More than 3 million vehicles built over 15 years have been recalled by Ford Motor Company. More than a dozen separate models.
Apparently quality isn't really "job 1" at Ford.
While no cars or trucks made in the last few years are on the list, it would certainly make me stop and think twice before I even consider buying a Ford.
The company has had a reputation for breakdowns since at least the mid-70s when people joked that the name "Ford" actually was an acronym for "Fix Or Repair Daily." Friends were shocked when I bought along family lines and made my first car a Ford. Even more defying logic by purchasing an Escort in its first model year.
Three of the first 4 cars I bought were Fords. They were reasonably priced and, for the most, part reliable cars.
At odds with this recent recall is Ford's website which celbrates it's JD Power medals for -- of all things -- quality.
Those awards came from Ford customers who are highly satisfied after 90 days with their new vehicle.
90 days? C'mon...who can't keep a customer happy for 90 days?
This makes me wonder how valid these awards are.
But how will this recall impact Ford who actually surprised the financial world by posting a profit in the second quarter?
